Materials: Petri dishes, agar powder, measuring cup, a bag of dandelions, incubator, sterile cotton balls, bleach, gloves, goggles, blender.
Description: In this project, the effectiveness of different parts of the dandelion plant on the growth of bacteria will be tested. Bacteria will be taken from a doorknob etc. and then grown in Petri dishes. Dandelions will be blended to produce an extract that will be applied to the bacteria growing in culture. The growth of the bacteria will be recorded over time and graphed.
