Concepts: Reflection of light, light scattering
Description: The objective of this project is to find out if a laser light reflection detects defects on a metal sheet surface? A laser light was shone on the surface of a metal sheet, its reflection was captured by a photo-diode and the amount of current the photo-diode produces was measured taking in account that defects such as dents, bumps, or scratches on the surface of the metal sheet cause the increase of the scattering of of the reflected light, thus decreasing the amount of the current the photo-diode produces.
