Renewable energy science fair project:
Increase wind velocity by creating a hole in an airfoil

Science Fair Project Information
Title: Increase wind velocity by creating a hole in an airfoil
Subject: Renewable Energy
Grade level: High School - Grades 10-12
Academic Level: Ordinary
Project Type: Experimental
Cost: High
Awards: 1st place, Canada Wide Virtual Science Fair (2007)
Affiliation: Canada Wide Virtual Science Fair (VSF)
Year: 2007
Description: Several airfoils with endplates were constructed. Interchangeable boxes with various shaped holes were then placed at the maximum pressure difference location (the airfoil had a large opening into which the boxes with the enclosed holes could be inserted). Using different anemometers, airflow through the holes was observed.
